Mac: I remapped screenshot taking to a single key: F3 and F4 for saving to clipboard and saving to file respectively. Saves a lot of finger gymnastics. Works only on non-Apple keyboards... Have to use Fn+F3 and Fn+F4 on Apple keyboards. Still easier than default.
Also I defined where all the screenshots go, and defined a simple naming scheme for them: screenshot XY...
Write them down so you can laugh at them 10 years later :)
On a serious note, I regret not writing things down consistently. Not every single thing I think about, but more substantial matters. I am trying to get into the habit of doing it now. Here are my 3 reasons to write:
1) Clarify and solidify your thinking
2) Learn how to express your thoughts in writing (very important no matter what you do in life)
3) Help "remember" things. This is especially useful if you need to build upon previous knowledge/discoveries. You won't need to start from scratch.
There are reason for keeping your notes private, but also good reasons for publishing them. Probably the biggest is getting feedback. Hearing other points of view is helpful in identifying missing pieces.
I am primarily using Safari. I was not able to find any alternative services that offers such a wide variety of books. I got it at 50% off couple months ago... I am not sure I'd pay the full price for it. I like the selection and the idea of being able to browse any book in the library... Some books work better than others, as some are HTML. Sometimes formatting is off, and if the book is image heavy it might be completely unreadable... one example is Value Proposition Design.
I don't quite like their Queues idea. I tend to read books, not arbitrary chapters from books... Maybe I just didn't give it enough time. I wish they didn't make it the primary feature... it kind of gets on the way of someone like me who is trying to read a book as a whole.
My answer will be, I am not interested. Actually, I am decent in front-end coding, but I don't code for living anymore. Instead, I design UX and UI. Why? Because it is more interesting and rewarding for me. If I have a choice to code or design, I choose design.
