Strongly agree. I would be surprised if Elon himself doesn’t realise this, and is just using the phrase as a promotional tool. At the end of the day, he’s just hoping to buy a medium that has long term growth potential.

This is the crux of it. It's hard to predict exactly when people will die. Spend enough time with palliative care physicians and the phrase "if I had a crystal ball" is burned into your memory
Misinformation, because it encourages a practice that is counter to the recommendations. Because it allows for a conclusion to be drawn that is counter to the recommendations.
The quote mentioned that store-bought masks don't prevent infection. He didn't say that they work poorly. The recommendations suggest that having any mask is better than having no mask.

That's an important mantra, I think. If you cast the net wide enough, you'll find something they like, and want to follow... but it might not be programming.

I think this is right, but its misleading perhaps to identify this as 'efficiency' in a computational sense - we're talking trillions of extra parameters derived in the brain from the tiny fraction of training data
I can only speak for the docs, but this has something to do with compassion fatigue. The job is hard, and extending your frame of thought to public health concerns like this can be beyond the mental energy we're capable of in a day.
Bad analogy, but its like using a car to get to work instead of riding your bike. Most do it, knowing its worse for the environment.
