This would probably make a pretty good poll. You can create a poll at https://news.ycombinator.com/newpoll if you have more than 200 karma (I don't :( yet)
If anyone does create the poll, it might be more valuable to have options to vote on individual social network.
These are excellent points, especially about validation.
Question to OP - Why not have a freemium model - where if the user does not pay then his account is downgraded to free plan. This generally has the benefit of keeping those users interested who may pay for the service sometime in the future.
As an example - I used Zopim on my website for a whole year for Free before converting to a Paid user. Had Zopim not had a free plan, I would have tried other competitors and eventually become a paid customer of theirs. By keeping a free plan, they retained me as a customer.
There are too many parameters if you use Pizza. A better alternative is to use the Big Mac Index. It's published by the Economist for the same purpose.
Do something that you are passionate about or find fun to do and that you would probably do even if you don't get paid for. If its not fun, it will feel like work and you will come to resent it.
e.g If you are passionate about motor bikes, create a blog about motor bikes. As you grow your audience you can profit by either ads or affiliate sales.
If you list down your passions here, maybe the community can help you come up with an idea on what to do.
If anyone does create the poll, it might be more valuable to have options to vote on individual social network.
For e.g. these could be poll options
- I never sign up through Social Media
- Twitter Only
- Facebook only
- LinkedIn only
- Google Plus only
- Any social media would be fine for me
