Databases and traffic is going to have your lunch anyway. Good developers cost a good deal more than extra infrastructure. Adding people to help you cut cloud cost is easier and more predictable than re-implementing.
I’d then have node handle the “simple” socket part, and the complexity which is race condition prone, handled by a language better suited for that, responding to the async node implementation?

Productivity in this case being in the eye of the beholder? I’d argue that people experienced in how node works, wouldn’t have to think too much, since async is the default. I agree with your general sentiment though.
Does not have to be copper. I've done several of these using galvanized steel hammered into the ground. We'd hammer in rods of 2 meters length until the resistance was low enough (around 1600 ohms Iirc). This would ensure hpfi tripped below 50mA

What would be the point of the passive agressive behaviour? If the intention is to get Apple to pony up some cash, he should reach out directly to them with valid concerns over traffic etc. If the point is self-promotion, he inadvertently got that now. I think the approach chosen is the right one
It's not automatically a bad idea, just because it's not changing the entire world. E.g. me choosing not to fly is not making any significant difference, but that does not change the fact that my carbon footprint is lower as a result. If I choose to share my motivation for not flying, it may affect others flying habits. The same could be the case for California

Even if we don't drive our cars all the time, we don't throw them into a pile and break them. We take care of our cars, keeping them for years, and when they are no longer used, they are recycled.
What an absolute waste of resources. We should get these bikes to people with real need - imagine what this would mean for a family who need to walk for hours for water or education.
