The are using amateur radio to test their new radios because that is the only license that they (and almost anybody) can get in the United States. He explains this in the video. They didn't want to go to a country more open to testing, so they used what they could in the US.
They are not beating the curvature of the Earth. If their claims are true, they are doing something other than frequency modulation. The electromagnetic signal is not RF so it interacts with large bodies (Earth) differently. There is no way to know if that is true until they demonstrate.
As a "non-nerd" software developer, CS major and general lover of computers I find the generalizations in the article nauseating. I've never seen The Matrix (although nobody can really escape the many clips, references and spoofs). I certainly do not want to be Neo and I don't need to be allowed to wear a t-shirt to feel like I'm not working for the man.

All those strings look hard to maintain and refactor. You won't know that your query is broken until you run it. That makes it of very little value despite any supposed merits.

If I am going to play dinner club then I am going to do it the right way. $50 a plate for food and wine so good that you could not get it if you spent $200. I don't think you understand the target market at all. You can already eat any kind of take out food for $15 a plate any where. How are you going to compete with that if you don't compete on quality?
They don't get stronger, they simply get different. Thinking on a past experience, for example, changes the memory of the experience. Thoughts can actually be corrupted by thinking about them. Use it and lose it in just as many cases as the opposite.
