i noticed the same exact thing. i thought weather had been solved with dark sky. then at some point something got messed up. i would love to know the full story behind this.
this...every time i use the damn apple weather app i am reminded how much i miss dark sky and my contempt is rekindled. makes me wonder how often this sort of tragedy happens.

Did they edit the article or something? I don't think it sounds entitled at all. Sounds to me like the author is just innocently wondering if open sourcing it might help them compete and wants to see them succeed.

Lol does that happen often? I can understand it with mace, but a taser?? What happens when a senior officer gets tased by some rookie? I imagine he would never hear the end of that.
How about if the headline ends with a question mark, or begins with a click bait phrase like "It could be" or "We may have just witnessed", or says something about what someone is "unable to confirm", and is in any way shape or form related to aliens, we just assume it's a soap opera and let the folks that specialize in that, like cnn or whatever, handle it?
If cnn says something like "Pentagon has officially confirmed aliens are here." or "Pentagon has officially confirmed China has new stealth tech." then we can take a look.
If it's really so easy to make forgeries now, it seems like the street value would plummet. Even if that's not the case, instead of swapping the original and risking jail time, why not just sell the cheap, perfect forgery to whatever idiot is buying stolen art? That way everyone wins! You (criminal), society (still have the original in the museum) and the buy (thinks he has the original).

- I work for a small company so pardon my ignorance here but...ergonomically safe?? Please god tell me it's something more than that. Like some sort of security measure. What's so hard about flipping open a laptop and using a VPN?
I can remember when I was younger my mom getting pissed when the phone (landline) would ring and thinking jeez, chill out! Some years later I'm doing something trying to concentrate and I get like 20 dings in a row on some group text message and I almost toss my phone into the wall lol. Mostly only priority stuff gets through these days. Every now and then my sister will hit me with a rapid-fire 10 ding (one per sentence) message but thanks to the nuclear option silent mode switch I can usually shut that shit down by about the 3rd ding. What sucks though is I sometimes forget to unsilence it for days. Maybe that's an upside though.
Regardless of what they think I'm still thankful for front-enders. CSS / UI-design/layout...people that enjoy that sorta thing are great because it means I don't have to do it. Maybe they feel the same way about backend work. Whatever, it all works out!
I'd like to see mankind drop everything it's doing and focus on making portal guns a reality. Once we have the ability to step from our home office into our work office (and back again as many times as we want throughout the day) then we can all happily continue working together on other stuff.
