It sounds like you have Wi-Fi Assist turned on, which does exactly what you describe. To quote what it says in my settings tab - "Automatically use mobile data when Wi-Fi connectivity is poor".
To turn it off, on your iPhone, go to:
Settings > Mobile Data > Scroll to the very bottom > Toggle off Wi-Fi Assist.
Completely agree. I also don’t see the need to egress to the public internet to access AWS services.
It’s also worth noting that whilst I’m a HUGE believer in VPC endpoints, it comes with a cost. Which then makes it a security vs cost trade off. As you’ll still pay bandwidth charges on the network interfaces (ENIs) for the VPCEs, along with the hourly price for said ENIs.
If Amazon changed this, I’d happily change all my networking to use VPCEs for all AWS services (where applicable). Unfortunately it seems they’re not going to do this, despite continuously adding new services to the list of VPCE-enabled services.
This sounds exactly like what happened to me. I had a few .london domains in one of the early stages of the TLD launch. Sat there for about 60 days, and then all of a sudden - gone.
GD support were useless and I lost out on a few quality domain names. Never used them again since. In fact, I don’t even think I got my money back!
Reporting the card stolen is hassle-free and can be done from the app instantly. It's just the process to get the money refunded and back in my account.
Whilst I recommend Revolut, be wary of the support. My card was stolen and I noticed that there had been several transactions on it, meaning somebody had been using it. Fortunately I have the push notifications turned on so I was alerted almost instantly.
When I got in touch with Revolut support, they needed a paper copy of the police report, along with several other documents from places such as ActionFraud (an organisation set up here in the UK to exclusively tackle fraud).
The police report took 2 hours to file, followed by a 2 week delay by Revolut to actually verify the claim and process the refund. Now, any other “bank” I’ve been with here will always refund you the money first and then resolve later.
This isn’t necessarily a criticism of Revolut, as I still use them very frequently but just a word of advice in case you’re used to the process, as I was.
I’ve been hoping for this for a while. I’m eagerly awaiting access to their Kubernetes service, so this is a perfect compliment to the upcoming service releases.
Also interesting timing too. Amazon Lightsail (the cheaper AWS alternative) is similarly priced to providers such as DigitalOcean, Linode, etc and released their managed database offering the other day: https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/new-managed-databases-for-a...
Agree. I work out of the London Moorgate WeWork sometimes and as you said, a lot of the companies in there are banks. For example, Citi Bank occupy a large space on my floor.
It does, but it's hidden at the bottom of the FAQ [1] page. I agree with the other comments about how they could do a better job of surfacing this kind of information.
> We fly the beautiful Bombardier CRJ Series and Embraer ERJ Series. These are regional planes with 50 to 100 passenger seats. These planes are the same planes that are used by United Express, Delta Connection, and American Airlines.
If you're on AWS you can use kops (https://github.com/kubernetes/kops) to significantly reduce the amount of time to get a cluster up. It took me about 1hr to get a basic k8s cluster up and running with it.
