I agree. Some time back I just stopped clicking a link if it was to Medium. Maybe they've changed their practices but because of that past experience I wouldn't know and as a result don't read content that's on Medium.

As a bartender in the 90's there were popular cocktails that did this. High alcohol, large round glass, set alight, put your hand over to extinguish, push a straw through fingers and suck out the vapour. The effect was very quick and very strong, much more so than drinking spirits alone. It was also short lived. I'm sure these were a terrible idea, but still, people using alcohol vapour to get a hit.
We gave a seedling to my parents in law over ten years ago, it's grown really well in a large pot out the front of their house in the rural outskirts of Sydney (and we didn't pay $100 for it either).
