> Let's go ahead and apply your logic to Pokemon Go: "It's an iPhone game named Pokemon Go".
You're missing some context here, as to someone who plays iPhone games the word 'Run' suggests that the game is an infinite runner[1]. So "an iPhone game named Super Mario Run" does imply more information (that it's probably an infinite runner, which is not quite correct, but reasonably close) than your Pokemon Go version.
The contrast between the font and the background is low for the body text (65% alpha black text on solid white background), which makes it harder to read for people with poor vision.
I've used one that worked like a pen. It had a small plastic disk at the tip that swivelled so it would keep contact and not slip. I never found out who made them though. It didn't feel like a giant cumbersome crayon though.
Secondly, I believe that this "essay" sounds young, and a bit smarmy. Like a first-year sophomoric newbie would write, trying to sound like they are so surprised that the students in dorm 13 haven't been going to the new dining hall, because everyone knows it's the best.
"Their victory is so complete that I'm now surprised when I come across a computer running Windows. Nearly all the people we fund at Y Combinator use Apple laptops."
I love "essays" where someone has experience from the last few years and says stupid things like this. "I'm surprised" when I see people using laptops their companies buy...and they run windows? That's just naive and foolish to say. Yes, Apple is cool, but that's like me saying I'm surprised when I DON'T see a laptop running Linux. Hey, I go to little conferences too, and everyone is using a Linux laptop. See how dumb it sounds? Now think that Linux and Mac have close to the same market share.
