Nobody wants to be born in a lower caste. In the end, such comments are just jokes. India's social playing field is still more important to the ordinary people. Especially when castes play a big role in marriages in India, the next most important thing after society as a whole.
So, i have to ask... whats your angle kamaal. Convincing HN that reservations are bad is going to make no difference on the politics of India. You seem to be ranting about it every chance you get (and against poor people from the last comment i read).
Also, your rant here is only against the backward sections of society, which have been denied equal opportunities for ages and have now become a political pawn in the reservations fiasco.
I question this, because India, as you know has reservations for women too, already in many educational institutions, pending in the parliament.
So, instead of quoting something relevant like the impact of various reservations the country has implemented for women, you seem to just pout out your own agenda.

I'm always late for everything and I don't see what the fuss is about. FYI I'm a software engineer, in India. In software, there is a concept of a buffer period, which people learn to add to the estimates, because inevitably, things gets delayed. Maybe you need to recognize when to do this with people.
I don't know if you're some big shot CEO or someone for whom a few minutes is a loss in millions. I don't believe in living life being so worried about my time or others time. My Nokia 701 running Symbian Belle does both of that, runs Qt apps. Nobody gave up their iPhone for Nokia though.

Look too rehearsed? When presenting a demo to a client, managing an "Apple like" demo is the holy grail. Although, you could expect a political candidate to partly be "too rehearsed" and still be his real self (or his other pretend self) on stage.
On the other hand, they are not geniuses to solve the problems of internet security once and for all. All they might manage to do is stop free flow of information into and out of the country. The "Iron curtain" never helped anyone.
To use Huawei's equipment to achieve their national security needs is just naive. You might as well handover your country's internet infrastructure to China itself.

This is obviously not going to solve the problem of cyber attacks. As I remember, even the stuxnet attack on their nuclear reactor was ultimately caused by transmission through a pen drive into an isolated network. No reason, the same cannot be achieved even if they isolate the country's network. More entry points as I see it.
Correction. Debugging JS in not easy. I have been working on a native application which has some HTML5 components in webviews. There is no easy way in XCode to debug JS in this kind of mixed application. In fact, it is a royal pain in the ass. You can run the JS in Chrome debugger or a web development IDE, but that can only work if all your functionality is in HTML5/JS and not a mix of Native and HTML5.

Now, why the department of telecommunications is taking down articles on Gnome, one can only speculate. But, I think that they think Gnome is a bittorrent client. It's the only reasonable explanation. :)
You would be surprised to know, that a majority of the starving people in India are farmers or daily wage laborers doing construction work. The problem is not that people aren't working. It's that their profession doesn't pay enough be able to buy food at the market rates. It's a problem of economic disparity. Food prices fluctuate with the stock market and oil prices, while the poor who have nothing to do with that suddenly have so much lesser purchasing power. While a software developer on the other hand can easily absorb the impact and live without any change in his consumption.
Wow.. a lil bit surprised at the down votes. Guess, I should make it clear, it's more of a personal opinion. Anyways, I have never been a fan of these kind of hardware specs when they don't map out to any real difference in usage. I have never been a fan of apple and their closed eco-system and have only recently started using apple products as I develop for the iPad. But I do feel they make products of superior quality.
About the S II, I know there are a lot of fans of it. I have used my friends S II for a bit, but didn't really find anything exceptional about it. Note, I had not even used a iPhone at the time, still don't own one. But, Samsung's product definitely didn't hit the spot. For one, Samsung's font always look crappy. Even their desktop software to manage the phone looks like its developed by university students. Anyways, thats just my personal opinion.
Samsung is just evil, a well-oiled business machine. So, I dunno why people are trying to defend it. Take for example, the fact that only their flagship models get upgrades to the new android versions and the rest are forced to buy a new phone to keep up.
I know that they are a major OEM in regards to phone components. And have the capability to produce high quality components. But when they sacrifice all that and use inferior materials in their own products to generate higher profits, it's not something I could agree with.
I agree that I do have some bias against Samsung, but that is because of what I have known about them from friends who worked there and the general impression they have in the software industry here in India.
Samsung is one of the least creative companies that ever existed and in my view a low quality high volume manufacturer. I hate it when companies make no effort to be good and just produce mediocre products with higher profit margins. It's no surprise that they copied Apple's UX because they definitely cannot produce something on their own. They deserve to be punished for being a player who simply tries to make money off others ideas, using their distribution muscle and market hold specifically in Asia. Guilty!
While I agree with the whole long term vs short term thing. One should be careful about how to apply this. For instance, devoting yourself to your soulless corporate job most often doesn't pay dividends in the long term. There are many companies out there who are happy with exploiting such employees. I say this because I have done just the same thing the last 4 years i.e. put in my heart and soul for such a company. Happily, I have moved on to better things and the company is worse off. So yay karma :) But, you sometimes have to make tough decisions now in order to achieve your long term goals.
[EDIT: I did become a really good programmer in the process and learnt a lot from my team lead who was highly knowledgeable, so that was the only good to come out of it.]
I'm currently working in a small/mid sized company, on a iOS product for the iPads as of now, which isn't even submitted to the App Store yet, but already has its target user base and is developed in close relation with them and makes a LOT of money.
So, my point is that, its not mobile startups in general that fail, but bad business models. One thing, you can probably be sure of is that, if a startup wants to make the next angry birds, either it will immediately succeed in finding a niche in addictive gameplay or more likely fail a few times before succeeding.
The world is not binary. The market is just fine. Visibility is the only issue with the stores. But other means of marketing always exist.
We've been using TestFlight to distribute new builds to multiple clients around the world, distributed to their user's iPads with a notification through mail, during their user acceptance testing phase and it just works great! None of our users complained about Test Flight's UI for sure!

I think you are a little confused as to how exactly ARC works. ARC is mostly compile-time and adds the memory management code automatically during compile time. So, the runtime overhead compared to a GC is much lower.
Regarding reference cycles, it is not a difficult job at all for any decent coder to work it out. It is a design issue in your application if you think its hard.
If you use protocols and delegates correctly, you can manage it quite simply with the rule of storing delegates as weak pointers.
If you use blocks, you just have to avoid the case of both storing a block in an object and referencing the object from the block.
I had not used a Mac till about 6 months ago and in the last 6 months, I lead the development of an enterprise scale app for iOS dealing with the above issues quite easily by having a good architecture. I have previously worked professionally for around 4 years with Qt/C++ and found it extremely easy to make the switch to iOS IMHO.
