That's weird...I know of a local business guy who got so angry on a known person who reviewed about his business and gave a slightly negative feedback. Wonder how all the other business owners feel when they get a bad review from a known person.
Sure, I agree, PhoneGap could be not as blazing as the native core...I just mentioned that as an example. Do we have any websites where we can see the tech behind these great apps? I'm sure there are a few for web apps.
That seems like a pretty solid response from someone who uses the native core mostly; thanks for that.
I understand that we certainly can pull it off with the native core (ObjC/cTouch) but always wondered if all those "insanely great looking" apps took the pain of skinning all the controls, coming up with their own look and feel of everything the core provides and extending them, or is there a framework (library or something) that makes it easy to pull these off with a fairly decent effort?...that was my question.
It would be easier to pickup ObjC while you are at C++ than to switch back from a web development background. Once ObjC is under your belt try to get some basic understanding of iOS development in general.
Then you can watch a few of the videos that kind of gives you a hands-on feeling since some of the drag/drop, ctrl-drag are something to see rather than to read and keep in mind. Rory Lewis and AzamSharp videos helped me a lot while Ray Wenderlich book gave some nice step-by-step instructions.
Armed with these you basically should start a real project of yours so you can learn things on the fly and those would last in your memory longer than any tutorials. Good luck! Believe me....it's hard but not crazy.
Thanks for your response...Photoshop...I get that...but what I was looking for is the framework and the intricacies behind that makes it an insanely great app. For example, with PhoneGap and HTML5 there are something that can be done better and faster than to try the same with native iOS classes. Wanted to see if there are any place where these things are revealed or if there are any advice on these.
Very impressive...I'm ashamed of being in the 30's and not achieved something that high...but I've been trying...if not 15 could be later one day...but your's is a great motivation. Congrats!
