Agreed. And that is a good observation, what is the actual goal of L.T.? I can only guess -- but perhaps the flaming serves as a tactics he utilizes to save one of the most precious we all have, the time.
Being respectful, polite or sometimes even flammable are not contradictory. A well timed flame instance can act as a catalyst for understanding and development, at least that has worked with me. -- well-done many times
In this kind of situation, I estimate for each kind of approach: (i) how many problem instances need to be solved, (ii) how complex the instances are, and (iii) what combination of resources (time, money, knowhow, ...) are available. These together give you the practical feasibility of the approaches.
To learn the skill, apply also the other approaches after the problem is solved. All the solutions you manage to produce give reference and verification anchors for your further efforts.
Document its pros and cons well (advertisement), make an easy-to-use library with a clear interface (product), spread the word to the target audience (marketing), and then monetize the _publicity_, not the data structure itself.
The outside: Failure and/or success is not the end.
The inside: Accept the ups and downs and learn from them.
The border: Push the comfort zone further by small steps, every day.
The glue: Forgive and forget yourself, support and sustain the others.
