Agree, this is why html ended up being the mess it is today. Because every browser wanted it their way and then every other browser and website has to implement things both their own way and everybody elses to not break the Internet.
Now you've got 10 versions to support instead of one!
Might not be a problem in istanbul but with that shape it seems like the light would be clogged up with snow in one day where it snows. Especially since they use LEDs and not light-bulbs that double as ice-melters since so much electricity burns of as heat.

For me the problem if i write html is that i write it different all the time. In one place i might use <b> while i the next time use <strong> or maybe even go as far as <p style="font-weight:bold;">.
Forgot to change paragraph with a </p><p>? Just add a <br /> instead!
With markdown there is only ONE way to do things right and there's not many thing you can do (wrong) actually. With html it's too easy to go overboard and either mess things up or start being creative with individual styles all over.
You forgot one point, every application reinventing tabbed windows. I don't know if microsoft tried to solve this or not with the new superbar in windows 7 but if they did they failed big time. One important reason is that they forgot a standardized alt-tab-within-application hotkey.
I do almost the same thing. Any fixes I have to do that are IE6 specific has a 3x hourly rate and i tell my clients so. It pushes the clients to really consider if it's worth it or not. Especially since these fixes usually take a lot of time too.
I'm thinking whether it's time to do the same with IE7 yet, at least maybe 2x rate.
Would be great with something similar but with canbus instead of rs232. The ipad seems like the ideal device to just hook up to the bus for quick monitoring.
