I had to follow up with a company a few days ago. This is what I wrote. They got back to me in a few hours.
Dear <name>,
Thank you again for the opportunity to speak with you regarding the <position name> position on <date you interviewed>.
From our conversation, I had hoped to hear back regarding the next step of the interview process. I am excited about this position and would appreciate knowing if I have been selected for the next step.
I understand you are busy. Thank you for your time,
I would appreciate it if you could give me some feedback on my side project: http://www.gotcheapbooks.com. I am a developer and I am trying to learn more about design and usability. Please give me suggestions regarding the following:
- What can I do to improve the design?
- Any suggestions for making it more user friendly?
Let's see..I started my current job in Jan. 2010 and I have worked around 3000 hours so far just for my full time job. For my start-up which I started in May 2011, I probably spend another 500 hours.
I started programming since I started college in 1999. I am guessing around 17,500 hours.
Oh, wow..love the site! I frequently check out "Show HN" posts. I mostly view the feedback that was given. I like that you included a preview and link to the comments section.
EDIT: I tried it out more. It would be nice to have a search option too.
I have tried notebooks and index cards but I had the problem of forgetting them. Now, I keep two text files in my dropbox folder. One for work use and one for personal use. This has been working fairly well for me. I use these to take notes, ideas and track to do lists.
