I fully agree with you. I love 3rd party Mac apps that look and act like Mac apps (Like Sequel Pro) but you still didn't answer my question.
From a developer point of view, it's just better to make a Web App or a Electron App that will be used by everyone irregardless of their OS. Not only it's less of a hassle to develop but also guarantees that more people are gonna use it.
I have a 2016 MBP and at work I use a Magic Keyboard.
I prefer my MBP Butterfly keyboard over the Magic keyboard. While the Magic Keyboard has more travel, the feedback and the feel of the Butterfly keys is more satisfying and feels more rigid.
I prefer the bigger escape button on the Magic Keyboard and the fact that dust can't stop my keys from clicking, but that's about it.
But if we put durability aside, Butterfly keys feel much better in my opinion.
I'm hoping Apple figure out a 3rd gen of Butterfly keyboards, with a little more travel and less failure rate.
This is true, but its still very snappy for an electron app.
After adding around 10+ plugins on Atom it not only became slower but it started crashing or having internal errors.
With VS code I have 17 plugins installed and it still feels light enough. Personally I disable most plugins until I need them and I think most people should do the same considering how easy it is to disable a plugin.
I have all my language specific plugins disabled until I need to use them.
Fully agreed about Instagram. I made an Instagram account 2 years ago and I mostly followed musicians that I like and some photographers and I actually enjoyed Instagram.
Intsagram was a nice tool to see cool pictures and keep in touch with artists. It was like a hi-res Tumblr without the drama and the crap of Tumblr. Then I decided to start uploading photos and follow people in know in real life and that was the biggest mistake I did.
In addition to what you said, Instagram is really toxic. Because I followed lot's of people, my following/followers ratio was something like 350/80. I heard some people talk about how sad it is that I only have 80 followers.
One time I followed someone I know and she didn't follow back, and I when I asked her why she didn't follow back, she said that she didn't know it was me (I didn't use my real name) and she thought I was some random ass loser because I didn't have many followers.
I later realized that in real life, people judge you based on how many likes you get and how many followers you have. It's now about the content, it's about how popular you are. If you don't get likes and followers you are seen as a loser/not cool.
That's what made me delete my Instagram account. Not to mention how shitty the app is when it comes to battery life. People complain about the FB app being shit, but IG is not that much better. It consumes a lot of battery life and has so many irregular activities and runs a lot in the background.
I'm 25, I started (properly) learning and liking coding about a year ago. Seeing people who are 4-5+ years younger than me with more knowledge and experience is discouraging. It doesn't help than in a job interview I was told "Why should we hire you when there are people younger than you with more experience"
