Tried Carbonite and CrashPlan, but have settled on Mozy to cloud backup my 2TB RAID network drive. $5/mo or $55/yr, unlimited storage for one 'machine'. Good client tool for the Mac with bandwidth throttling and intuitive file picker. And fast indexing.
Yep, another $100M deal that I'm sure has already paid for itself... I could have gone on with the examples, but I chose to box in my frustration with the AOL kids :-)
Point well taken. I was intending more technology companies, so I'd concede Microsoft. I wonder if opportunities like that are still viable. There might be a licensing strategy to super company play left... I'd also add Zappos to the list of good examples of how to build a business. A people- and service-driven take on the done-to-death e-commerce market. Tony is a beast.
Agreed they don't have a compatible product in their back pocket. I was contending they need to make a TMobile-like move and partner up quickly to create a new product line. Huge opportunity if you have the marketing vision + manufacturing abilities.
