I learnt the word beeves while reading the Doctrine (the PHP ORM) codebase. I assume it was in case someone had an entity called beef... So the collection would be beeves :) I wonder if anyone ever used Doctrine and had an entity called beef.
Pretty sure that is still not the meaning of refactoring. As I understand it refactoring should mean no changes to the external interface but changes to how it is implemented internally.
Not that I don't agree with a lot of what you are saying, but I think despite being digital crypto is a lot more like cash than card payments. But cash also has 'no rollback, no fraud detection or insurance'. At least you are don't have the risk of counterfeit notes.
I worked on a project a while back called Freeview play in the UK which I think works in a similar way to how you described. You can watch live TV over the air or scroll backwards in time along the EPG to stream recorded content over IP.
I think the BBCs childrens content is one of its strongest assets. I don't have any data for it, but I would say most families in the UK with small kids consume a lot of CBBC and CBeebies content. It's much better quality content than children's content on YouTube or Netflix.
Peoples viewing habits are more fragmented and from a wider variety of sources than 10 or 20 years ago and the BBC definitely doesn't have the same mindshare that it used to have when there was only X channels. But, I think when people are looking for some high quality curated content in the sea of 'please like and subscribe' then they will come back to iPlayer - I know I do.
Yeah. I don't quite understand how that relates to the environment. Seems more like 'Make France great again' under the guise of 'Make our planet great again'
I once owned Xiaomi mi2 (their second phone) and the usb socket melted when charging. After I posted it on Chinese twitter they were quick to offer a refund.
I hope their quality has improved since then. I guess at least the battery didn't explode :D
I used to live in China and met some students with very unusual English names. My favourite of which was 'Finger'. When I asked him why he chose the name he answered 'I like Kurt Cobain and he played the guitar with his finger'. Not sure what was wrong with Kurt.
