What issues did you have? I have a 2016 (catalina) and a 2017 MBP (ventura) and they connect to my ubiquiti AP (5G / WPA3) at least. Haven’t tried others in a long time. I do have completely separate 2.4 and 5 GHz SSIDs so that may be related.
I did have issues with these machines running Linux due to driver support (broadcom BCM43xx) but USB to ethernet worked fine.
I have a similar model (2015 VW GTI, manual transmission) and I'm so glad I bought one before they ruined it. I will also be driving mine until it falls apart.
Yep, KV is broken too. Any worker that depends on KV is throwing exceptions. I was able to get into the dash, but it's very slow. Error rates started to go up significantly around 18:00 UTC.
I've tried all sorts of configurations and I settled on two 27" 5K monitors (in HiDPI mode) on a VESA mount so they can easily be rotated for different use cases. The biggest selling point was text clarity. I really like using my code editor in vertical mode.
My previous setup was a 34" curved ultrawide and I didn't like it. Primarily due to the poor text quality and generally feeling it encouraged too much distraction.
I like being able to have very separate concerns per-display -- code editor on one display and browser on the other, and then I use virtual desktops on each one where needed.
It sounds like a big part of the issue is that Portugal has substantially pulled back on funding after COVID...

I've been using SvelteKit since July of this year on downforeveryoneorjustme.com and it's easily my favorite Javascript framework at this point. I found Svelte made sense to me almost immediately and debugging issues has always been a breeze.
We used to have Disqus on our site and I can attest to it being a resource hog. We switched to Commento last year, which doesn't have as many features, but it shaved seconds off our page load time.
My only complaint with Commento was that automated moderating / spam filtering worked better in Disqus than Commento.
I also had the same hard bounce (when emailing from a non-gmail address -- fastmail -- to a gmail address). Sent it again minutes later and then it worked.
You could still encrypt all the stored data in the cloud and delete everything that is unencrypted.
Since most of the historical data that customers upload is in the Garmin cloud, not on their local devices (I believe the local device only stores a small period of recent activity), this potentially means a lot of lost data for customers.
I would also imagine things like accounts and their relations to hardware devices (which account is associated with which device) is stored in the cloud somewhere, so those associations alone are important for synchronizing data to the cloud.
This will be a mess to cleanup if true, if they don't have some kind of separate off-site backups outside of this compromise.
Thanks! Yep, we have a lot of things on the todo. We want to add more user-focused / location-based outage information since our site is still too reliant on simple HTTP checks to report downtime. This is especially a problem with a Discord outage, for example, where the frontend website is not down, but there might be problems with the API, apps, or other components.
And I'd like to be able to have our site communicate outages like this Cloudflare one, where more than one site might be affected by a larger provider. Automating that is difficult.
This is still a side project, though, so I mostly work on it when I get the urge :)
We were down (downforeveryoneorjustme.com) completely, but back up now (as of a few minutes ago). Our domain wasn't even resolving; we use Cloudflare for frontend and DNS.
We had a surge of people checking if Discord was down on our site, then I noticed everything went down shortly after. Discord is still the top check right now.
I can't ever remember hitting these kind of traffic numbers before.
I had the same thing happen last year, after the Microsoft acquisition. I was migrating my repos to a new github account and it was automatically suspended. No email notice or anything. I guess they saw two different accounts logged in at the same IP and that was enough to trigger it.
I contacted them and explained what I was doing and they reinstated it, but I always thought Github allowed and even encouraged "machine users" and thus multiple accounts.
I was definitely annoyed with their heavy-handed approach and lost trust; they could have emailed me first and given me a warning before just automatically shutting my account down and restricting access, assuming I'm a bad actor.
If you don't feel you're getting those things in Boston, I would consider it. I'm in Denver, which is somewhat similar to Boston in size, and Denver definitely is not a 24/7 city like NYC. But I'm OK with that. I grew up on the east coast and I do prefer the culture of the western states more.
I am in my mid 30's and moved here about five years ago and I wish I had done it in my 20s. I hope you find a place you can enjoy!
