I always thought it was incredibly ironic that an industry that's responsible for creating the virtual world would require all those working to create it to live in the same physical neighborhood.
Kronikl is a project we've been working on for the past year. It's deigned as a personal Facebook; a private experience where you can save and preserve the things that are important to you and build an archive of your storyline. You can share posts with friends from your Line, you can build a Line together with your friends or you can keep all of your content to yourself. Our video is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_gTUVF1kNI. You can see the project at https://www.kronikl.me. Feel free to offer any feedback.
My first real job was with CableData and my first "Big Boss" was its founder Bob Mathews. Bob was a visionary; foreseeing in the late 1970's online on-demand video entertainment, networked gaming platforms and other digital services long before Apple, Google, etc.
He was also a relentless and intense leader. When I worked there (in my very early 20's), I was kind of afraid of him. But he was nice to me and I think a bit of his work ethic rubbed off on me.
Not looking for trouble here but writing an iPhone app should be no more difficult than creating a Keynote presentation, imho. If Apple is the leader in document development (Keynote, etc), why can't they do the same with writing apps. Look at what they've done with the complexities of video editing. Where is the consumer grade development app for iPhone?
Typical posts against CFML. "It's old." Well then so is Java, PHP, you name it. Actually, of all of those languages, CFML has the latest iteration (which is the most important stat). Railo and Adobe both have new updates ariving soon. Hey, how bout that JSTL huh? Morbid since the late 90's.
I've built my product on CFML as well and I can't understand why it doesn't get more love from the developer community. It's a solid, productive language and the only language available in both commercial and open source (free) versions with tremendous support forums on both fronts. I personally use Railo for the CFML engine. Again, very productive and it enables me to get products to an MVP stage quickly.
Microsoft became successful primarily by IT department mandate in the 80's and 90's. Apple has been successful due to its focus on user/consumer experience. We now live in an era where consumers have a larger voice in technology selection and the Microsoft/Corporate IT department mandate is becoming less significant. You can beat Apple only by delivering the best consumer experience possible.
Thank you for the feedback. I should have added that you can see a test account with a user email of [email protected] and a password of jetsons. Good point on a better "book" example. I'll add it to the list. Thanks again.
