They had a sneaky download button to download some adware vs the download link to the actual software you wanted in the first place. Easy to confuse the two.
Can someone validate this source? A Canadian here trying to raise money has been much harder than the USA. I haven't seen deals or valuations anywhere what the graphs imply. Plus it says per project US but lists the amount in Euros....
Your analogy comparing Walmart to Yahoo is weak:
1. Walmart hasn’t make any acquisitions that are out of line with there fundamental business which they later shut down.
2. People go to Walmart and Target to buy similar things, relevance doesn’t factor into the discussion.
3. I doubt many people here know who the CEO of Walmart is, whereas we are inundated with news about Marissa Mayer in Tech and Non-Tech news.
Thanks Dennis. I see that the quantcast graph shows a downward slope and a loss of about 8 million users per month for the last month. Extrapolating based on this trend doesn't look very good. Are they doing anything to fix this? Does anyone on HN use Yahoo regularly?
I actually have used Elance for hardware,like Arduino programming and circuit board layout. Your idea sounds a bit more collaborative. I would like to see this but expanded to prototyping machined and 3d printed parts as well. The cost to go from idea to design to part is expensive, but I think it could be a lot cheaper.
I've been developing on the .net stack since its inception and it has worked well for me. I scaled and e-commerce company to $24 million in revenue using MS commerce server and .net. I use azure to host (while I have credit via bizspark). There are legions of programmers who work on this stack day in day out. Stackoverflow is a classic example of a high traffic site built using the MS stack. Why don't I ever hear people say is Ruby on Rails on AWS a bad idea?

There are people running companies without outside funding and are probably pretty happy doing so. Applying to YC is time consuming: making videos, writing bios etc.
There are a lot of visible minority founders. When I go to startup events all over the North America, I feel like Custer...holy cow look at all those ####ing Indians. :)
Note I am of Indian decent myself so I can say that. :)
