They argue that it's better (?) because your website will be faster.
"This is because Fathom’s tracking code is super-lightweight and blazingly-fast to load. Our tracker file is tiny whilst Google Analytics’ file is much larger. This is a little funny, because Google’s search engine rewards faster sites, so a case could be made that using Fathom instead of Google for your analytics could potentially increase your page rank in their own search engine!"
Low energy and meaningless procrastination is tell tell signs, also time spent on twitter or youtube is.
I became some kind of expert in managing my pre-burn out parts. I usually recognize that it is happening, and take a break for 1 day or 2. I also have an accountability buddy with whom we speak once a week and update each other on our projects. So talking to them also helps me to get out of that rut. Sometimes outside perspective helps.
But yeah my thing is: recognize it's happening, take a break (if you can), and talk to somebody who's not in your field.
I got to #3 on producthunt last year and still get traffic from them. Does it convert to users? On the day of launch I got 600 new users but they were not very active.
Imo it's a shiny new toy syndrome place. They have a lot of eyes on their website so you can leverage that. The people will try your product just because.
But marketing strategy should be more complex then just launching on product hunt.
In terms of launching its just for 1 very tiring day.
I'm in Lithuania for 1 year already, and I'd say depends on what kind of company you want to found.
Here in Baltics it's very good for B2B SaaS fintech, deep tech, and that kinda stuff.
Everywhere else e-commerse is big.
Also depends if you're bootstrapping or fundraising. Fundraising is easier if you're incorporated in Estonia, in other countries no one cares, you'll still need to incorporate in US with C-Corp.
A friend once said that Linkedin is like a place with hostages that are instructed to be happy all the time.
It's just a place where a bunch of corporates and startup people say how cool they are.
However surprisingly I heard that for the folks who are looking to fundraise is the best place to be. So I guess if you're not looking for work or funding no?
There's Polywork (https://polywork.com) that tries to replace linkedin. Gotta wait to see if it works out.
I suppose the true problem is to understand the source of financing behind the media organizations. The ideas are pretty easy to understand, what drives them. But in this case you gotta follow the money.
