I think that's a slightly pessimistic view. This experimentation is what will eventually enable the bridging of the uncanny valley. And I think that day will be here sooner than we think.
16 GoPros? Sounds expensive. Certainly not something I would buy, since it would gather dust on the shelves along with my other gadgets after a few initial uses.
That being said, this may be the right time to reinvest in 360 degree stereoscopic video since the viewing technology is finally catching up. Point Grey has been making similar spherical cameras since the 90's [1]

Could you elaborate on this unlimited TLD? I'm a bit out of the loop (but had heard of the .porn TLD!). What's going on? Isn't this going to cause a lot of confusion and compound the issue of domain squatters?
If true, this story is heartbreaking, sorry for your loss. It may be insensitive to suggest this, but there may have been several other factors that contributed to this tragedy, not only LSD. Vilifying the chemical substance isn't the answer here, the same way cars aren't to blame for crashes. Sure, you may not want to take LSD based on your friends experience, but there are several other people in the world who have had positive experiences who will need better convincing.
Not a US citizen, but I was under the impression that the "War on Drugs" was another major contributor to incarceration. Intent to sell (bad) and indeed even possession (harmless?) of marijuana could land you in jail, correct?

Not siding with Keurig, but just out of curiosity, how would you to create a DRM scheme that can't be bypassed with this replay attack? Apparently [0] the DRM works by shining a light on an ink marking and registering the wavelength of the light reflected back.
I figure one simple scheme would be to 'burn' the key after it is read. i.e. physically disable the DRM ink by heat/perforation/other ink, so that once used, the signature ink cannot be reused. Curious what other HN-ers would come up with. And hoping Keurig doesn't get any ideas from this. ;)
