If anything, what "shocks" me is how supposedly smart people fall for the crappiest rhetoric, and consistently skip any and all elephants sitting on the couch. After all we're talking about people who own, and in some cases even operate, PC computers.

Well sure, and Opera has extensions, too. It just does some things out of the box that you can't even do with extensions for other browsers, OR for which you have to pay the prices of longer startup and constantly checking for extension updates before starting up.
FF (and Opera, and all browser) extensions are great; as long as you don't have many dozens of them. Then you really really want those features done in core code, not in Javascript and what have you.
Opera has an inbuilt IMAP client... which I admittedly never use, but between that and Thunderbird, why would you even want to use webmail? Of course it should still work, even though it's silly, but you also "should" not even notice that it doesn't, is what I'm saying. Certainly if you imply your time is so precious, heh.
The bookmark management, hands down. Other browsers are for testing and sites that don't work well in Opera; while Opera is for organizing all of the things, especially with things like nicknames for bookmarks and created searches. It also has plenty of themes which actually change how much space stuff takes up... hmm, it's kinda like KDE versus Gnome, with Opera being KDE ^^ There may be apps for Gnome to make it more configurable, but that's just not the same...
If only people would not downvote instead of voicing disagreement; just because someone is actually mistaken, or worse, simply not going along with whatever fad might be the issue, is hardly justification to waste their time like this. The rationale is that a non-troll/spammer can simply realize they have intruded on a circlejerk, instead of wasting their time making posts nobody even sees.
While I get that there may be actual good uses for this, it is super silly to assume "they must be trolls/spammers, or they wouldn't be hellbanned". That doesn't follow logically at all. What is common though, you might even say well-reasearched, is that when other people get treated unfairly by our own peers, we route around the damage with neat little stories about fairness. It's sociology 101, nobody wants to be a tyrant, or in bed with them. We want the power, just not the shame, and how mediocre and small it makes us seem in the right light. So we tell stories, and sometimes those stories happen to be true, but that's just because we got lucky, not because we actually inform ourselves. It's also very convenient that those affected can not give any feedback, they're banned after all.
Also: dunno about trolls (except that assholes or ignorant people are often called that, when in fact "trolling" implies deliberate deceit and trying to play mind games, instead of just being stupid or a jerk; but who needs to think when you can have labels), but why would a spammer not simply use a new account for each post? It seems like that would be actually less effort.
Now vote me down or whatever, I'd rather be banned than suck up :P I'm aware it's kinda off-topic, because none of this applies to gaming... but those are the posts I'm replying to, hah. I just think that modding people, not posts, is highly flawed; even ignoring the moral high horse for a second, it doesn't produce good results either.
Same here -- I'm not a fan of anything but self-hosting, but I LOVE the simplicity of this thing, it's very sexy. I just wish it would support OStatus, for example. There's depending on third parties, and there's depending on third parties :P But that's what open source is for, right?
Oh well, it's not like I have anything insightful to add myself right now, I'd just like to heartily agree with this:
