What I liked about it: The fact that It can be accessed from webapp / browser plugin / mobile app, which means it will be storing all my messages in the cloud, and claims to be the most secure of them all.
Alright then, I use Facebook Messenger a lot, it can be accessed from the web, I can use it on my phone and other devices, and I don't need to add contacts as my friends are already using it. Bam!
It is Possible. But if there is a startup working on it / a service already there, and is getting some traction, Google probably knows about it. Again, Google can make/introduce new features to keep the users coming back to it or it can simply acquire the service ( For example, Twitch ).
I agree. For most of the apps out there, I use Google+ to login, even if there are other services available.
Why :
* Using Android, Google+ seems safer, faster, and easier to remember ( that I logged in using Google )
* I don't have to worry about Permissions that much ( Facebook - post to news feed, send notifications )
* I can use Multiple Google accounts for logging in ( and switch anytime )
* Again, it's Google.
Do people still use *Social bookmarking? Well, for most of the people using the web, Facebook is the common source of news / links / any hot discussion going on anywhere on the internet. Twitter too, but I have read somewhere that generally, Facebook is the only source nowadays.
I had the same question. One of my friend wanted a custom domain email solution, I found ZOHO, but the services it provides has limitations. Had to fallback on email service provided by the hosting service.
Go with Wordpress/Ghost(self hosted) if you want to own your content.
Another thing, many startups use Tumblr because they like it not to be hosted on the same server, so that if your website goes down, your blog will be still up. Tumblr has social features, auto posting to social networks, and all the features listed above except the fact that you're hosting your content on Tumblr servers. Which I don't think should be a problem.
There's a difference between walking to your house exhausted and walking for no reason. I like to go for a run everyday, I feel good after it. Never tried yoga, and don't have any plans to try it.
The web looks weird with all the advertisements when I'm not on my own machine.
