I got an acceptance email, but the confirmation link says the application was rejected.

Same, but possibly an email mismatch between the one on the logged-in HN account, and the one that you used to apply to Startup School? (That's the most obvious thing I can see about mine, anyway.)
pg said it's fixed (http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=871433). It worked for me when I tried, try again.
yup i have this problem too. i got accepted, was able to RSVP and did. now checking the confirmation link again, it says application was rejected. glitch?

My coworker, who I told to apply since we're thinking of branching off to our own thing, got in and he's never even heard of yCombinator.

I love the videos from Startup School 2008. I wasn't aware of the application deadline, but I'll make sure to apply early for next year. Do most of you who are going book a round trip flight?

Did anybody who got the acceptance letter end up at a page denoting that they were accepted? Or is everyone who got the acceptance email getting to the rejection page?
