Doubly agreed. I particularly like how one of the articles refered to in the title of this thread basically said 'I surveyed my options and counted out all of these others because I don't have any experience with them.' Yeah, nice scientific decision-making there. I want back the five minutes of my life I took to read it.
Let's talk about specifics, not generalities. "Rails does X well - you should learn to use it." "PHP suffers for the lack of Y." That has substance.
Rails vs. Django lacks substance. Rails won or lost lacks substance. And PLEASE quit with the "Community X is full of douchebags - here is a bad experience I once had". As petercooper said in a related thread, "Hi pot, meet kettle."
