This is completely false. Facebook place results are showing "No Nearby Places" on a per account basis as of the past day or so. People have been reporting this regardless of what device they sign in on (phone, tablet, computer) and yet someone else can sign in on the same device and get results.
Not more than an hour ago I checked in with my Facebook map on iOS 6. It found all nearby places and I didn't have any issues with it.
Seems to be working OK for me.
and nobody noticed.
