You can get a job in game dev the same way you get a job in tech in general but this is highly dependent on the current state of the labour market. Understand what skills are needed and learn those skills but only if there is demand for more of such and given the specific massive layoffs, the game industry is not needing game dev specific labor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023-2024_video_game_industry_... Your best bet is finding game dev adjacent labor (perhaps a game studio isn't hiring game dev talent specifically but they do need other niches to keep things afloat) to get your foot in the door and moving from there
