This article was published in May and the author went on Canadaland in June to discuss it. I’d recommend listening to that interview or reading the accompanying article for a more nuanced discussion of the topic.

It’s no longer the lament of the snuffing out of the fire of journalism but the desperate search for any still warm embers. Journalism now is just ideologically driven clickbait that on one extreme inflames wounds so they never heal and pushes people to the opposite extreme when they inevitably see through the lies and misinformation. If it weren’t politically useful it’d be treated like enemy propaganda because it is the enemy to the common good.
