How is the legal link between an NFT and "intellectual property" made? "IP" is one of those real world legal things that NFTs work around by convention. Does buying a Bored Ape NFT grant you the copyright, or is there some other legal instrument that needs to happen?

I’m not a lawyer, but my understanding is that no, NFT and copyright are parallel systems. Owning one does not imply the other. But for legal purposes, an NFT is a good way to prove provenance in the event of a dispute over copyright.
