Unfortunately, they left out part two of the TOS episode "The Menagerie." And I think I spotted a misspelling or two in the titles. Of all the titles to get wrong, this is a big one.

Yes, this is very annoying. One reason I pay for Netflix is that I don't like to be gamed by other distribution channels. Netflix should realize that the gaming that this content involves reflects on THEM, even when it is at the rightsholders' initiative/insistance.

At a minimum, if there is an expiration date, it should be there prominently on the title's page, so that the viewer is aware of this going in.

This can be really annoying. Huge chunks of the BBC catalog disappeared from my queue. At current subscription prices it's easy to shrug it off but the content providers aren't making any friends this way.

I've been burning my way through TNG all weekend. I never really got a chance to watch it when I was a kid (the rest of the family always vetoed my desire to watch "that show with the guy with the brains outside of his head"). Now I'm watching and laughing at the first instances of the now-cliché episode types: "holodeck malfunction", "alien culture forces crewmember into single combat", "Q does arbitrary random thing", "Wesley gets his ego stroked".
They're classics. I can't wait for ToS to arrive :-)

I really like Voyager over TNG honestly but TNG is still a great series.
Babylon 5 disappeared, which pissed me off (glad I've seen it when it came out, but still). Nice to watch so much Trek when I want though!
I wish Netflix was more transparent about when things are going to be removed and added on Netflix (more so the removal) especially if movies are on your Instant Queue.

There are several reasons Netflix isn't more transparent:
1) Contract windows are of deep interest to competitors.
2) Contracts are frequently re-negotiated before they end.
I think having something like, oh that was on my instant queue or now it's gone. Or having a series you're watching be taken off in the middle is way worse. They could at least warn people about those.

Wishing this was available on Netflix Canada. I recently got all 7 seasons of DS9 from Amazon, but so far I have to say it's not very good...getting better but the stories are just rehashes and many of the characters are quite wooden. Not sure if I'm gonna get through all 176 episodes - hoping it gets better when Worf arrives!
Keep going it gets better as of 3rd or 4th season. The magnificient seven ferengi (not sure if that's the correct title. In it they want to save quarks mom) episode is the funniest ST episode of all times.
Something to look forward to! Actually so far Quark is the most well acted character - Armin Shimerman is pretty good.
Armin Shimerman coauthored a really good DS9 book, The 34th Rule, worth reading when you get a chance.
Hopefully the TOS episodes are the 2006 remastered-for-HD versions. They look magnificent scanned from the original 35 mm film.

I haven't watched the new TOS episodes - are they simply remastered from the original film, or did they also add new CGI, a la Lucas's re-releases?
They replaced certain CGI, but IIRC you can switch back to the originals on the DVD and Blu-Ray releases. Doubt you can on Netflix, though.

I downloaded a torrent of TNG. It was easy to do, high enough quality, can't be revoked and you know, was actually available to me years ago.
I'd happily have paid some money for them if I could (though I admittedly wouldn't tolerate the terms of netflix myself).
The dvds are £122 for the full set on Amazon - that's £0.69 per episode. Slightly pricey imo. I'd happily have paid £0.30 per episode though. Certainly not interested in paying £122 up front (I didn't know if I'd actually get through them all!) and I dislike having the actual physical dvds.

What makes you feel entitled to set an arbitrary price and then violate the copyright if the publisher doesn't meet that price? Would you be equally sanguine about someone enjoying the fruits of your work at their arbitrary price?

I’m always a bit confused, though, about Americans being so willing to torrent. I thought the costs if you are caught are crippling in the US – basically life destroying? I don’t think I would want to risk that but maybe I’m just misinformed.

I assume most people feel that p(getting caught) is small enough to eliminate most of the negative utility that a conviction would carry in their expected utility calculations.
What I'd like to see tested in court: we can record things on t.v. with a VCR for a private version, right? Could we record what Netflix displays, in this case TNG? Is this any different from torrenting a copy of the content, instead of recording, if you have a Netflix subscription?

But we are talking about a show that is now 20 years old. I do have to say that the quality of TNG and ST in general isn't matched by many shows today and it should command a premium. It's still the most expensive DVD show I'v seen.
Something kind of odd going on with TNG though. My blue ray/netflix player is missing most of season 6 and 7. Hope they work by time I get that far.
Noticing that on our TiVo as well. It drops off almost all of season 5, 6, and 7, with only 1-2 episodes from each for a total of 100 episodes total.
Last I checked the TiVo guide wasn't updated with the info on Netflix availability, so I couldn't access them that way either. Was really looking forward to switching to this over the recorded from TV version that WGN plays at 2 am or whenever, but they were just started season 5.
