This is positive for Nuclear Plants. The fear of melt downs and ongoing mutations can be put to rest. This study will likely be used to push forward on Nuclear energy as a sustainable source.
Yeah, they just have to evacuate a large city, 30+ died directly, 1 in 4 cleanup crew died of cancer, untold cancers emerged in the next 2 decades, and there could have been much more exposure and even huge explosions if the cleanup work wasn't done so thorougly be combination of almost-certainly-doomed volunteers and army people ordered in by the USSR plus huge expenses.
If it was some modern state, and privately owned for profit reactor, they would have most likely done such a half-arsed job of cleaning up it would have been a far greater disaster.
