This is modern journalism, and the logical by-product of 24-hour news. When there's no actual news to report, everything becomes news, gets jumped on and beaten to death.
Modern mainstream news-media is info-terrorism.
Repeatedly showing videos of the 9/11 attack or the tsunami as it wipes out homes over and over again every hour is not enlightening nor does it spew anything but fear.

Yes. Who upvotes crap like this?
I so which I had enough karma to downvote crap like this.
There is no karma limit to be able to downvote articles but you can flag it if you want though and if it gets flagged enough it will be killed.
The only karma limit is to be able to downvote comments and I think that's around 200 or so; maybe more now.

Maybe it is people who only read the headlines before choosing to vote and/or read the article.
"I apologize for making people worried," Muto said.
At the bottom of the article, it even admits that there is nothing to worry about, after spending the rest of the page inciting panic. This is journalism?
