why creepy?
Creepy because that's an lot of information facebook lets you look up about people pretty easily using their api. Not necessarily objecting but it is a little creepy when you think about it.
Facebook is just gathering as much information as they can so they can give it to advertisers. I don't quite understand why people have to share some of the stuff they do on facebook and find that far creepier.
I think people don't notice it until it's all presented back to them in some manner like this.
People might also have an unreasonable expectation that there's some law against misusing their data. Partly, it's because that is true in some areas, e.g. the phone company can't run speech-to-text on all your conversations and sell histograms of your word usage, so people might assume Facebook can't either.

Yea its quite creepy especially because they can get all your friends through whatever they are doing.. even with your FB account settings disallowing all websites access
What stops me (as the developer of a similar app) from screen scraping the information I gleam from visitors to my web app?
I like that it gives me this reassurance:

Site crashed Chrome on Mac twice in a row. First time I've had to Force Quit Chrome.
Works just fine on Chrome 5.0.375.9 dev on Windows. What versions are people seeing the crashes on?
Crashed for me the first time on Ubuntu Linux Chrome 5.0.342.9.
Tried it a second time and it worked okay.
Crashed three times on Mac. Once I had to restart the system.
Destroys Chrome on Linux also.
I didn't have any problem with Chromium 5.0.342.9 on Arch.

Oh :(. I was hoping it was a system where you could "like" a URL or something, and after enough "likes", it'd show other stuff that you may like.
Facebook would easily take over commenting if only they added threads, quotes, and other rudimentary commenting features.

Nice little hack
I was wondering why most of the page was empty and realized I'm blocking Facebook frames. Am I missing much?
Please do explain: what's your hack to block just FB frames?
I'm using the Firefox add-on LeechBlock to block access to "www.facebook.com/plugins/". (Facebook still works fine. It wasn't immediately apparent that you could use Leechblock to block access to individual folders.)

i was using the wrong nyt url.. works better now
weird... in FF I get all of the presets sites, but in IE I'm only getting CNN. What gives?
