Does someone have a good list of industries and sub-industries with sizes? Could be an interesting starting point?
The list from Quora:
Agriculture Business intelligence Construction Consumer banking Credit reporting Data informatics Education Finance Grocery Ready to Eat Meals Healthcare Human Resources / Talent Management Insurance Intellectual property Legal services Mattresses Music information News Packaging Payments Politics Remittances Settling Disputes-- Arbitration, mediation, court of peers Shipping Sports Gaming Sports Media Rights Travel Waste management (human waste)

Another one ripe for disruption is real estate in robust urban markets (lots of well-informed buyers and sellers, combined with realtor fees that, in some circumstances, are WAY too high (e.g., a desirable well-priced property that sells in a week).
Watch, I am going to change the human resource/Talent Management industry. (Have mercy on me and don't thump me down as I only have a few karma's..:). Happy weekend folks.
So am I... I'm done with Oracle software holding corporations by the wallet with crap. #struggleisreal
Curry houses & chinese restaurants. Pizza Express, Ask, Nandos: so many restaurant sub sectors have been taken over by chains running economies of scale. Why not Indian and Chinese?
I believe that Indian/Chinese restaurants try to provide a quality over quantity. And it's difficult to scale the quality in food market.
CRE - commercial real estate
mattress sales, air travel, home remodeling, moving companies.
But what is the best way to look for special ideas that should create a significant impact?
