I'm in my 40's and my graduating comp sci class was the biggest in history at that time because of the money people were making in the first dot com boom.
Wow, a study with a bit of work on mice and a small non-blinded study done on undergraduates at a university? What are the odds of this actually being an actual real effect? <1%?
LOL, this is literally covered in the article! Sharp was the source for this story! He was lying to try and cover his tracks! Krebs should probably take this story down.
This has always been pretty clear. But, also effective. Lots of congresspeople and MPs still read the NY Times, Guardian, etc.. Facebook also has no political 'country', being a big company (left wing hate) based in San Francisco with liberal views amongst its workers and ownerss. (right wing hate)
The Canadian Prairies are getting warmer and forecasted to have a longer/more productive growing seasons although a bad drought this year isn't encouraging.
This is a point that's understated. Problems in the stock market hurt the real economy, problems in the crypto market hit an insular community of people who are trying to scam each other, much less of a societal issue.
This is also why I've become a bit more skeptical about Nuclear. Renewables + batteries are pretty mediocre right now but if I'm to bet on something for the next twenty years, it's that.
Canada just added an explicit recognition of grazing land into our carbon tax program for just this reason. Not only are pastures incredibly better for native plant/animal conservation (in North America) than crop fields but native grasslands are also incredible carbon sinks:
This is the reality of carbon taxes as implemented in some Western European countries and Canada. A generic tax that applies to a limited set of activities then a sector-by-sector specific plan for most large industries depending on a lot of factors.
British Columbia has long been the scam capital of North America (well, maybe tied with Miami). It brings a tear to my eye to see it all grown up from the days of ripping off seniors for junior mining company shares on the old VSE to its current status as international money laundering hub for the entire Pacific Rim.
That's what made it kind of an interesting read. All of the 'nicer Larry' projects in the article flopped, from Google+ to wearables to unsupervised learning being useful commercially.
Ottawa, Canada wasn't purpose-built but was an insignificant city meant to be a neutral choice of capital between Anglo and Francophone Canada. This has also worked fine.
The bigger news from this budget update is that Netflix/Prime avoided a 'Cancon tax', where they would be forced to make more Canadian content for the services, funded by an added levy on consumers in the country. We dodged a bullet there, I certainly don't mind these changes.
This is also true for a huge number of apple species. Also,'cider apple' generally refers to apples that aren't that great for fresh eating but processing into pies/cider/juices. This is a pretty goofy story to make international news.
