i think their past issue was having to hire more sales people to scale revenue in a manual fashion talking to companies rather than having a robust programmatic platform they can rely on to bring in revenue with fewer headcount. not sure if this is still a problem for them or not.
these comparisons are fine and fun. but a single iphone isnt that valuable if youre the only person on all the different networks an iphone gives you access to
makes sense. as majority of the population moves away from desktops, windows and mac will lose market share. the hardcore Linux users that aren't going anywhere

visa fees? way less. total fees to the merchant per swipe is way under 3% for any sizable businesses. something like 1.2% + $0.10 was average when I worked for a payment processor.
what is defined as a search? searching within social networks is most definitely a 'search' but probably not counted. I would estimate almost half my daily searches are on a social network.

I agree except when you watch a game on twitter they force the generic #[whatever game it is] feed down your throat instead of being able to see your curated feed you spent years putting together.
