If one was a young or returning adult with interest but little background in mathematics, would you suggest learning category theory first (assuming the adult is interested)? How would you suggest going about doing this as a path?
I appreciate the civil perspectives of you both, and would be interested in seeing you two discuss this in written format. I'd admit to having a relatively poor view of Gould, but this is not an impression formed from particularly close reading.
You might also want to look into ME/CFS. I'm very sorry to hear about this, because I had an analogous experience for years and know how hopeless it feels to try to figure out what the issue is (while your cognitive abilities / stamina are limited by brain fog), fail over and over, and in the meanwhile others cannot understand and don't believe you.
It's practically 100%. Once you're in, they'll do everything in their power to graduate you (legitly). Every incentive they have points at a perfect graduation rate.
EDIT: In the US, anyway. Things are different in, say, Caribbean medical schools.

My team did some work for the KS04 special election last year, and now we've developed a service for political campaigns. But traction.. maybe we're getting screwed by this approved vendors thing.
As someone who wanted to redo my mathematical foundations and go onto higher maths, I tried (and failed) many different approaches. Eventually I found that New Math books worked for me. I'm about 70% through the www.elementsofmathematics.com course, which is derived from New Math, and loving it. Warning: it's about 3 years worth of work at a normal pace, and covers 6th-12th grade (through precalc, though you get some abstract algebra and number theory too).
If any student comes to me and says he wants to be useful to mankind and go into research to alleviate human suffering, I advise him to go into charity instead. Research wants real egotists who seek their own pleasure and satisfaction, but find it in solving the puzzles of nature.

My impression (as a heritage speaker) is that cha's usage has simply broadened a bit, in the same way that American English has herbal teas and fruit teas. These also don't contain any tea, and have a different term, tisane. But both cha and tea still primarily refer to, well, tea leaves.
Do you think these factors commonly affect both men and women? Or that these are more valued in Japan? This list is appealing to me, but it does seem to be describing something like the best possible characteristics in introverts.

This is a really nice link, thanks. Instead of an entire book I can point people to this article now! It does still seem unclear that some UV exposure is beneficial, though. Light therapy lamps aimed at affecting circadian rhythms are UV-shielded, and that seems to be sufficient.
This is very interesting. I have a similar outlook on abilities as you, but only partial/lesser results so far (it's still difficult to find consistent time to develop specific skills). Actually in some ways, your story seems similar to mine. I didn't start to steadily improve until after I had good results with meditation and learning to keep my circadian rhythm in check.
