The new Siri on my iPhone 15 Pro Max is not good. I can still not have a back and forth conversation with it as I can and have had using chatGPT on my same phone for the past many years. I.E. Asking it a follow up question leads to it spinning/waiting and 95% of the time hearing the same old Siri trick, "Can you try that again something went wrong." The amount of times I hear chatGPT say that is 5% out of 100% and again on this same old Pro Max phone since Sept 2023. I have been running each beta now on the 3rd (maybe the next will fix this?).
If not Apple should sue Open AI to oblivion to just then buy it. Their voice conversation tech is unparallel as Gemini (subscriber to both) tries but no way matches theirs.
What I heard him say is that people are taking away present-day jobs, hoping new ones will rise from the ashes. Yet, he also claims we need to find the creative minds who will actually create these new roles.
I'm curious: have we found those people or those new jobs yet? Is a forward deployed engineer an example of this, yet they are now doing the job of two people (sales and coding).
I'm using a ten dollar a month US model to vibe code startup ideas. All my previous startup ideas i had to hire a graphic designer and back-ender or two to help. I use to be a web design front end enigeer since 2009 yet those skills are dumb now, so now Im a vibe coder.
The model I use to vibe code with I am just going back and forth with. Since Im building it as I go using an agent doesn't make sense but I guess that's where all the token usage comes from? Pardon ramping up my skills via vibe coding this one idea for about a month and have never hit any quota and or have gotten anywhere near my limit.
yeah like said Meta is probably not going to win this race but Apple could as it's privaccy focused and they could have as noted..blur out or anonymizes faces that aren't in your network. Apple already labels and tries to name faces it sees often in your photos and has done for years.
Have you ever took a photo or video while your in a crowd and other people you don't know appearred in either? Did you care about them and look for them to ask if it was ok that they were in the background of the media you took?
Pardon but I don't understand your question cause if you think of it all humans have done the above since the day cameras or video cameras existed.
Further, im pretty sure smart glasses to AI devices are the next big thing. Meta probably will not win the smart glass race as many hate them due to privacy reasons. Apple a privacy focused company could add tech to blur out and or anonymize faces of those in the background to calm peoples fears.
Smart glasses are very handy and when traveling especially solo asking about what your seeing in front of you is handy/informative.
I can see when AI becomes 100% reliable with smart glasses we all are almost know it alls. Everything and anything we need to know will be presented in front of us.
Ok all the above sounds crazy to most, but ive enjoyed using my Metas since Oct 2023 (had to buy another paid April 2025) though Meta glasses are sh!t in terms of durability. So i can recommend smart glasses but not really Metas especially if you like to buy technology that lasts!
Right now if you get laid off in tech finding a new job is a nightmare of a prospect. Further as I am vibe coding entire business ideas I have no need to hire other techies as I have done many times before. Im thinking other startup/business people are doing the same thing and that right there is less jobs. As well all the techies who have been laid off and now have to go through 5 to 10 interviews to hoepfully land a new job. I'd love to understand how and as AI advances it's suddenly going to increase tech jobs and not continue to decrease them?
I sing in tune but the tabulature that it wrote for the melody i sang was way off. Also im singing in B flat and the tabulature shows it to be in F sharp / G flat.
Really if you think about it AI will know everything and you can quickly get the answer for whatever right from inside your smart glasses.
We all become knowledge experts especially when the data we see inside our glasses is always 100% correct. This could take Years but that's where we are heading and Im sure no one now likes the sound of it.
i assume the ones voting me down are DOGE fans and don't like to hear the reality of DOGE? Like they were sold DOGE will make govt more efficient and less fraud (not a bad thing). While my friend who surely is one of thousands dealing with the same thing shows running the govt like a startup isn't efficient yet that's what you voted for and you didnt get what you voted for? I mean are you actually trusting politicians lol
DOGE was run like a startup and many startups are run like Sh!t shows with them following the mantra of break things fast ask questions later.
Case in point i know someone at the NIH who in March 2025 wasn't fired with his hordes of colleagues who were. Yet, fast forward a year later he gets a notice saying something like we are sorry but you should've been fired last year so be prepared to be let go at the end of June (2026).
Thankfully i just saw my friend last week as the end of June has passed and now he says they might keep him. Talk about batsh!t insanity for him and his life.
Ridiculous that for past many years we can talk to GPT on our iPhones without any hiccups and this new Siri is still the same old horse crap (at least for me and this latest beta). Buy them already Apple or possibly be replaced by them as their path & trajectory (working on Ai devices now and they are stealing like Jobs did with Xerox) mirrors yours in the late 1970s.
Thanks for the tip and if Im not mistaken it's similar to asking Siri to ask chatGPT to ask XYZ?
Im hoping Apple gets the new Siri working better on older phones. I was excited to use it but the latest beta / Siri runs too slow on my iPhone Pro Max 15.
Im looking for the same experience I have when talking to chatGPT. As for past two years or more talking to GPT within it's app and on my iPhone Pro Max 15 it runs smooth as butter :-). This is the experience I was and still am hoping with Apple, but Im thinking all the extra layers of privacy and security might be slowing them down?
Overall, Apple who is suing Open AI should just buy them and let me have the best conversational AI out there baked into my old ass iPhone. Because as so far the new Siri on my old phone (tho again GPT works great talking to it and for years) doesnt come close. It's the same old "Could you try that again," Siri. BOO!!!
Thank you for reading and just one idea from one human. But our content keeps Facebook, Google and the digital world spinning. Further in our daily lives we all create content which parts of it or a lot of it is content that Facebook, Google, etc make multiples of billions off of. Why are we not making that money off it ourselves is my thinking. It might not be a lot of money but it would be one way of many that humans get paid for keeping AI relevant.
Though this human would be fine if the universe just unplugged AI and I could go back to working as a well paid UX Engineer/Designer where jobs were plentiful and it was easy to get a job (not have to go through 15 interviews). Thanks AI, but as a startup person I am deep into vibe coding now all my crazy ideas and without having to lean on others (so far). That's pretty cool!
He talks about AI cutting through popups, but if you follow that line of thinking further, screens and traditional websites likely fade in importance. It becomes more talking and texting to AI and visuals on the topic at hand appear in smart glasses, lock-screen–centric AI phones (where website visits dwindle), digital picture frames, TVs, etc.
I sorta gather (just a hunch) this is the type of device Open AI is working on.
Though if there are no websites anymore or ones not many visit how would AI stay relevant? I wrote some thoughts about this in early June https://ryanspahn.substack.com/p/ai-to-pay-for-all-americans... that AI needs to pay it's fair share for all it has taken and all it will continue to take from us. A symbiotic relationship needs to be established!
