It's not good in some job negotiations if someone has a very clear picture of what your current net worth and income is. Also in some purchases companies could price discriminate more effectively against you.

There was only 64% election turnout in 2024. People are not as politically radicalized and polarized as media companies say to increase engagement. Some people are, but the problem is being exaggerated for clicks and views.
I would not be surprised if governments pushing back against all foreign social media is a major theme of the decade. America is basically saying to the world right now foreign social media companies are a major risk. The global reach of America's social media companies could be coming to an end.
The return to office mandate at my company has definitely made most people at my company unhappy. Especially because it's obviously being done as a way to encourage people to quit. As a senior developer I've stopped caring about the company plan. If upper management doesn't care about employees, I don't care about deliverables. As the person that does most the technical interviewing anyways I know they won't be able to find any replacements in a reasonable time.
I meant overweight/unhealthy people losing weight would feel better. Totally agree that a heavier athlete wouldn't necessarily feel better with weight loss.

I think the games industry is just to competitive for subscriptions to work. Indie games are more often than not are some of the best games in the year and usually cost half as much as AAA games. Subscriptions could work but there are few publishers that have produced consistent quality games to justify it.
The code, tests and data is the documentation. If the code is clear the documentation should be short description of features and purpose. Explaining how to setup a development environment is nice for onboarding.
Everything else is noise and leads to worse understanding. You have a duty to document but you also have a duty not to document irrelevant details or workarounds that aren’t real solutions. Bad documentation is a waste of your time and others.
Fair point. Banning a social media platform because of topics discussed though seems like a dangerous precedent to set. Seems like a free speech issue to me though.
I think most people are aware of the CCP influence on TikTok. I hope reports like these make people question if they’re being manipulated on the platform. People should always question the validity of the media they consume.
I don't think tech courses or certificates have ever been a top consideration when reviewing backend engineer qualifications. Only if we're hiring for a specific technology that's niche. Most certificates just teach you how to understand/sell a specific technology stack which sometimes is helpful, but other times can make you not see simpler solutions. I'd check out what's freely available first.
Your 400 dollars is probably better spent making mistakes building your own personal project on aws/or some other cloud provider.
Yea a lot of game theory is built on the arbitrary axioms like that people will follow a given strategy with given information, or that there’s common knowledge. In reality people don’t necessarily follow the axioms of the theory.
I mean yes writing the wrong query will give you the wrong results. But there’s nothing inherently risky with a left/right/full join.
I could make the same argument about inner joins giving the risk of dropping records you intended to keep (very common in analytics). Just have to know what you’re doing and what data you got.
