USA still hasn't adopted the faster payment model of same-day payments between the banks (without charge). Compare that to the UK which most payment transactions are completed within 4 hours
If the cost and cumbersome nature of VR can be reduced to bring it in line with just putting on a set of headphones and still be aware of the outside environment, sure.

To be frank, most users often don't have a better performant alternative (outside of maybe a browser tab) so it seems like a redundant point.

Well there isn't exactly a choice of what spotify client to compare it to is there - so users have to use it by default rather than be 'happy' about it.
