The YouTube API has `list`, `setModerationStatus`, and `markAsSpam` endoints. Could a service automatically moderate comments using its own heuristics?
DRM isn't a good analogy, because no one is prohibited from experiencing most NFTs. You can't legally watch a DRM protected movie or listen to a DRM protected audio file if you didn't buy the privilege. But you can look at NFT GIFs, JPGs, movies all you want without paying a penny.
Though the DRM analogy may work in applications that interact with NFTs. For example, games with unique items. The application would limit the full experience of a tokenized object to the owner alone. For example, only n00b5lay3r may equip the Golden Sword of Evisceration, because it's in their wallet.
NFTs remain fully accessible to everyone, unlike DRM assets and invite-only apps. The difference is that a human can pull out their wallet and prove that they have a high level of status linked to the NFT. This is even better than famous paintings, baseball cards, or Cabbage Patch kids because everyone can have the exact same experience with the thing as the "owner. I agree with this "innovation is dead" sentiment. Apple used to be pioneers and futurists. Now they focus on retaining their well-defined market. This almost makes sense, except they have such a tremendous amount of cash they can afford to take risks.
So if you ask people if they’d be happier living in California or the Midwest, most people say California. Actually the regions have comparable life satisfaction, but people say California because they think of the weather and fail to take account of other things, such as the fact that California is full of tedious hippies.
The author does not cite research about about how "tedious hippies" make people sad, nor demographic evidence that California is "full of" them.
I think that Pandora's recommendation results are far superior to Spotify's, thanks to the Music Genome Project. I think Spotify does some basic "A likes X and B likes X, so if A likes Y, B will like Y" processing. My ideal-new music-discovery workflow gets the best of both worlds: find stuff on Pandora, and use the results to create playlists on Spotify.
One inherent inefficiency about mega farms is that most of the soy (not sure how much of the corn, but a lot) goes to feed animals. Eventually, we "harvest" 10% of the input energy as calories. So these systems will never be more than 10% efficient in terms of human sustenance, no matter what technology is thrown at them.
