At Firststep we want to make investing easier for everyday Australians. We're aiming to build the best investment platform in the world. We're not in the office this year but we expect to be onsite next year.
We're using Rust, Webassembly, React, Vue, Postgres, C & Javascript to work on what the next 10 years of long term investing will look like.
You can if you want, simply ask your bank to require 3D secure for all transactions. Can't say it'll always go through as not all websites/apps will support it.
All I'm saying is it would be good if there was a choice to it as a customer holding a cr/dedit card
It comes from academic material, typical neoclassic economics textbooks teach this so I assume its from The Wealth of Nations. By increasing the minimum wage it locks out a portion of employees from being employed where the marginal product of labour is less than the minimum wage.
Because of this there are actually tonnes of papers studying its effects:
> Even BP didn't get that big of a fine when they polluted half of the Atlantic Ocean.
The fines broke big long after BP's fine. BNP Paribas was fined a staggering $9bn just last year. The fine was selected as the limit of 10% of the annual revenue in the previous year.
Don't be mistaken. In many developing nations there is a thirst for power. Renewables aren't up to it when it comes to the scale and speed required (even though the countries involved are on the equator).
I don't advocate for the use of coal in generating power but this is what seems to be going on.
The largest (MW/GW wise) expansion projects in terms of power generation are all coal projects as far as I'm aware on the entire African continent.
Typically each unit/turbine generates close to 1 GW. It's hard to find something with the equivalent cost (including the use of a small amount of space) with renewable energy.
Even the best geothermal well in Kenya, on the rift valley geothermal reservoir, only gives out near 5 MW.
The renewable scaling issue is something that needs to be faced. Costa Rica truly has achieved a milestone much larger than it sounds.
It is possible I'm not saying its not. The three gorges dam hydroelectric plant is able to produce near 22 GW, also the largest power plant in the world (including non renewable energy)
This looks good with the videos. I'm contemplating building an app that requires SQL. I've built a few apps with meteor but mongo's lock keeps crashing my website down.
The current third party packages with SQL support are very experimental and don't support nearly as much as the native mongo driver.
I assume when Meteor does this or if Arunoda does it would be pretty awesome. Especially with PostgreSQL since it supports native live queries.
I know you guys have used Stripe like experience to describe razorpay. We used to use Payzippy which was similar though had a few glaring differences.
I had a couple of questions as we need something like this.
Could you outline the differences due to the legal framework? Do you allow tokens/can customers save cards?, what about 3Dsecure? Can we use POST like api calls or do we use a very customisable iframe? Can you guys do pre-authorisations (such as when capture is false on the stripe api when you create a charge)?
I'm not sure this is the actual thing. If you check out the video at near 0:10 you have emails which are fictitious, like an email from brands.edu (no whois record).
For the company to say they're playing this at the moment in office it is a bit misleading.
I hope the real thing will be just as cool if not cooler.
I think it depends on who the artist is. For the most popular the artists wouldn't be complaining about being paid too little.
Either way if a formula change, distributing earnings based on an individual user instead of the whole pool, means the popular songs would earn far less.
It also means if someone listens to one song that would earn more than someone who loves music and pays the same thing!
I would argue the formula isn't wrong its difficult comparing an total Audio CD sales vs a lifetime NPV of music played on Spotify for an author.
There's also the bit where you don't need the original card to shop. Overall the system seems secure with the exception of being able to punch in anyone's card and use it without needing the card again.
Nonetheless, you can keep it easy and get loads of people on board first before making it tougher.
If its a fraud its a fraud you can get your money
back. There's a difference between being cheated
and wanting the service & being willing to pay for it.
I might point out on Paypal you get an email every time a charge is done and you can easily cancel any subscription in under a minute quite easily so you wont forget about anything.
Direct Debit (such as that offered by HDFC, Axis, etc)
can also do the same thing, although it is more difficult
to cancel than a credit card would be & less services are available to it.
Also consider if you pay cash/neft/rtgs/paytm for 12 months
upfront instead of every 1 month recurring for a subscription service. Its
going to be harder to get that back (and perhaps
not possible) if you decide to cancel halfway
than it would be with a credit card/paypal.
