> Now I get that this is a small subset of the climate activism but I even then I think that climate activists need to seriously rethink their tactics.
All means to fight climate change will always be used, and many people will always find a strawman to justify their inaction, or worse their actions against a better future...
I don't think it's fair to put more blame on environmental activists than on the rest of people.
Funny, I actually tried finding tricks exploiting the cache from Vercel, but it didn't work. Initially I thought I could find a way to use it to share data across users, but nothing worked. Do you have any links to resources that could help getting a datastore from the Vercel cache?
I will try adding things you mentioned, and I'd love to find way to also have stupidly complex/convoluted storage systems, inspired by tom7's harder drives: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcJSW7Rprio
Thanks for the comment!
It made me realize I forgot to move a file. It's fixed now (you might need to clear your cache). And the live data toggle is now enabled.
Oh okay. Here is an old version of Ubähnchen with the toggle for "live mode / planned mode" on the top right: https://ubahnchen-inona1te6-lzear.vercel.app/?live
The URL parameter still works in the current version by the way.
When I changed 'my-awesome-program' to 'ubahnchen' or something else when creating the hafas-client, it stopped getting valid responses. So I thought I should wait for VBB to give me an ID that works.
Hi, I know you! You're hard to miss when working on public transportation. Very happy to see you're looking at my project! I sent you an email.
v5.vbb.transport.rest's frames were missing something I needed, if I recall correctly. With a fork of hafas-client, I got something to work okay. I was going to release it too, but then I realised I should use another user agent than 'my-awesome-program' which only VBB can provide, I think.
Thanks a lot for the feedback!! The "live mode" is already developed using hafas-client[1] and VBB-API[2]. I just asked VBB to give me API access, I'll release the feature when I get it.
If you are interested, VBB already made a live map[3]
There are a lot of very nice articles showing the mortality in France during Covid-19 compared to other years and events (epidemics, heat waves), good reads.
"At any point in
time — past, present, or future — the people who have ever bought bitcoins, considered
as a whole, have put into the game more money than they have got back."
Thank you for this good example. However, I think there are cases where Score Voting is hard to implement:
If we look at how we rank the countries in the Olympics, we usually look at the medals count. However, a country ranking 4th in every discipline is arguably better than a country ranking 1st in one discipline and last everywhere else. Ranked voting could be used here. It would be difficult to establish the ranking with Score Voting: is being 10% slower in a marathon the same as being 10% shorter in throwing?
I don't really understand how Range Voting is better than Ranked Voting. Won't voters only grade candidates with the maximal or minimal grade to have more impact?
But then, Range Voting was supported by very smart people (eg Balinski, Arrow), so I will try to read more about it and hopefully update my website in the future :)
Unfortunately, airlines avoid taxes on aviation fuel because of the Chicago Convention. It could be difficult to enforce a carbon tax on fuel for international flights.
Nitpicking: one transatlantic flight emits 2 tons of CO2 per passenger, a human emits 4 tons per year per capita on average.
Around 5% of the US population go to jail at least once in their life. And 0.69% are currently jailed (0.075% in Germany).
Since it is harder to _simply not be a criminal_ and prisons there are proven not to fulfill their role,
maybe OP simply wishes that this aspect of the country would improve. I don't think he/she was whining, or even saying that everything in the country terrible.
